This year, MAEE was proud to recognize four people who have impacted the Environmental Education field in positive ways. We celebrated these awardees with a Social at Eastman Nature Center on Sunday afternoon, November 5th. The Awards Social allowed time for the recipients of the awards to celebrate with their families and friends as well as to share their thoughts on the work they and others have done for Environmental Education in Minnesota.
MAEE was excited to award Owen Bacchuber the very first Student Environmental Stewardship Award. Owen is a Senior at Roseville Area High School and gave a very inspirational speech about the adults in his life that supported his passions for animals and the environment.
MAEE was also pleased to award Devon Vojtech the Formal Educator Award. Devon was nominated by one of her former students and talked about the lasting impact we all can have on others.
Power couple Ed and Sil Pembleton were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. Although they are continuing to teach and inspire future environmental educators in Missouri now, they joined us at the social to share their reflections on how education continues to involve and what we can do to inspire new leaders in the future.
MAEE is proud to be able to showcase these inspirational people and looks forward to the 2018 Awards year. We’re sure that next year will bring another great group of students and educators together to celebrate the positive work in Environmental Education.
