Virtual MAEE 2020 Conference
Saturday, October 10, 2020
8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Join Minnesota Association for Environmental Education (MAEE) for our annual conference — held online in 2020.  Participants will learn from local citizen and community science project leaders and complete projects outside before the event. The virtual conference will help attendees connect with others in the environmental education community who are contributing to the same projects.

Representative from numerous citizen science projects will present, including: Monarch Conservation, Carp Tracking, Pesky Plant Tracker, Citizen Water Monitoring, iNaturalist and Worm Rangers.

Maximizing Online Time

The conference will include asynchronous activities beforehand to maximize the synchronous online meet-up. This will ensure our time online together is productive and invigorating.

Phase 1: Register and select "tracks."
Register and select 1-2 citizen science projects. If time permits before October 10, complete asynchronous activities online tied to selected projects. Online videos, fact sheets, and brief trainings will be available to you.

Phase 2: Learn more about citizen science projects asynchronously. (Optional)
Complete citizen science activities and connect with facilitators/co-participants via online platform (Slack).

Phase 3: Virtual meeting on Saturday, October 10.
The half-day online conference allows attendees to learn, network, and connect with one another over local science. Participants will break out into sessions to learn more about the projects from facilitators, discuss and ask questions. Over lunch, participants will play Nature Trivia for some fun (family members invited!). Conference participants are welcome to take part in a MAEE strategic planning meeting.

Keynote Speaker

Carrol Henderson will give a historical perspective on local citizen science projects and share his personal experience as a renowned hero for Minnesota wildlife.
